Kristina Davis… a co-worker, a faith-loving individual, a sweet person who loved life and fought hard for her health!  I had the privilege of speaking briefly at a small memorial service we held for her at work.  This is the impression she made on me…

The very first memory I have of Kristina is when she came to my house for a time of crafting – this was about 5 ½ years ago.  We were making greeting cards with a group of ladies.  And while we sat there I remember her asking me “Hey Lori – what are you reading right now?”  Well, you take one look around my house and it appears I’m in the middle of reading about 15 books.  In fact, I probably am.  I might read half of one book then set it aside to read a portion of another book (maybe 1/3 of that book) before setting it down for another one.  So I remember answering Kristina’s question with the names of about five or six different titles – we got a good laugh out of it.  Well, because of some of the books I was reading, it started off this wonderful conversation about our faith.  This conversation continued, moment by moment, for many years.

Around the same time Kristina was in the early stages of her battle with cancer.  One day she approached me in the hall and asked for my support in prayer.  She went on to explain what the doctors had found –  but the astonishing thing is (and I remember this so vividly) she had a smile on her face and hope in her voice.  She quickly pointed out that she knew her Creator was with her, watching over her and protecting her. 

To quote a Psalm… and as I read this I can just hear Kristina praying to God … saying “I am always with you, you hold me by my right hand.  You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.  My flesh and my heart may fail, but God you are the strength of my heart…”

The legacy Kristina left in my life is this:  She had faith.  She was gracious, patient, forgiving, funny, strong and passionate.  The way she lived her life left a permanent impression on mine.
