Five Minute Friday: TRUE

Here’s another Five Minute Friday post… the topic this Friday: TRUE

Ready, set, go…

——————————————————————–

Truth vs lies.  Applying this personally… do I tell myself the truth about my worth?  My priorities?  My down falls?  My adequacy?   Is my mind traffic productive?

Or do I get stuck in the dangerous circle of being too harsh on myself, allowing that tape to run over and over again in my brain that constantly repeats things like: “you dummy… what were you thinking?”  “you can’t finish anything, can you?!”  “why do you even try?!”   “why do you do that over and over again?!”  “what’s your problem?!”

Or do I allow the TRUTH of God to infect my values, motivations and thoughts?  I KNOW that my worth is found in God.  I KNOW that God loves me in spite of my down falls.  I know that He has equipped me with what is required to be me.  I KNOW that He wants me to be focused on good, not bad… on His beauty, His grace… He wants me to be focused on what is TRUE, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious…

Are you telling yourself the TRUTH?!  Let this be a challenge to you as it is to me today…

Philippians 4:8 (The Message)

8-9 Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.

  1. Great post. I know that I can be my worst critic. I probably am my worst critic. I sometimes feel that this dishonors God, but it probably hurts him more because of his great love for us.
