five minute friday: ORDINARY

It’s time for another Five Minute Friday post… the topic this Friday: ORDINARY

Ready, set, go…

——————————————————————–

Home from work on an ordinary Friday. And sitting down to write my Five Minute Friday blog post. And I look around me at the mess that I want to work on this weekend… the pile of mail that needs to be sorted, the half-finished craft project that needs some attention, the fur-kid who needs a bath… and it all just feels so ordinary.

And ordinary is not something that thrills me. What thrills me is unique, exciting and inspiring. And I long to instead go straight to the studio and start creating something, dreaming up a new something-or-other to list in my Etsy shop, working with my hands to give a recycled item new life …

But I know that those ordinary things need to get done. And I shouldn’t only and always pursue the unique, exciting and inspiring.

I know that our Lord asks of us to commit whatever we do to Him… the unique and the ordinary.

So, this weekend I will do just that… commit both the unique and the ordinary to Him, and know that He will bless whatever I put my hands to… He has promised He will…

Thank you for the challenge Lisa Jo Baker… http://www.lisajobaker.com Let’s just write and not worry if it’s just right or not.

Here’s how to play along:

1. Write for 5 minutes flat for pure unedited love of the written word.

2. Link back here and invite others to join in {you can grab the button code in my blog footer}.

3. Go and comment on the post of the person who linked up before you. This is the one rule of this community.

  1. My life is very ordinary and honestly I kind of like it like that…most of the time! The Oct 12 devotion in My Utmost for His Highest (Oswald Chambers) reminded me today: …character is not what he does in the exceptional moments of life, but what he does in the ordinary times, when there is nothing tremendous or exciting going on. The worth of a man is revealed in his attitude to ordinary things…

    • Thanks for sharing the thoughts from Oswald Chambers, Paulette! I love those thoughts! It’s promising, but also convicting if we’re only chasing exceptional! Thanks again for sharing!
