It’s time for another Five Minute Friday post even though it’s Thursday. I like this “free write” exercise so much that I want to catch up with last week’s challenge before the next one rolls around. Thanks for understanding.
A blogger named Lisa Jo posts a random prompt every Friday with the challenge to write for five minutes, a free write. This last Friday’s prompt? I’m glad you asked: TREE
Ready, set, go…

When discussing life’s heartache and pain due to loss, I’ve always loved the analogy of pruning a tree. The tree grows strong and tall… but sometimes the rogue “sucker” branches pop out here and there and have to be pruned back, because they “suck” up all of the nutrients the rest of the tree needs.
Or, think of the branch that gets diseased or old and endangers the life of th rest of the tree… it must be pruned.
It’s painful. It’s loss. It’s sad to see a once beautiful part of the tree being pruned… but the core body of the tree, even the roots of the tree need to be cared for to maintain the life of the future of that tree. And sometimes that requires loss…
It’s a part of life … death is. And it has meaning just as much as the joys of life do. And we are stronger and better and will thrive because of it. It’s painful… but it is required.

Thank you for the challenge Lisa Jo Baker… www.lisajobaker.com
Let’s just write and not worry if it’s just right or not. Here’s how to play along:
1. Write for 5 minutes flat for pure unedited love of the written word.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in {you can grab the button code in my blog footer}.
3. Go and comment on the post of the person who linked up before you. This is the one rule of this community.
