A history lesson on Raven blend

The Raven blend is made up of the following oils. And here’s how they were used historically.

Ravintsara – is referred to by the people of Madagascar as the oil that heals. It was used as an antimicrobial and to support nerves and the respiratory system.

Lemon – Research by Jean Valnet, MD, showed that vaporized lemon oil can kill meningococcus bacteria in 15 minutes, typhoid bacilli in 1 hour, Staphylococcus aureus in two hours, and Pneumococcus aureus in two hours, Pneumococcus bacteria within three hours. Even a 0.2% solution of lemon oil can kill diphtheria bacteria in 20 minutes and inactivate tuberculosis bacteria. Lemon oil has been widely used in skin care to cleanse skin and reduce wrinkles and combat acne. Lemon has shown to have antidepressant effects in research done by Komori, et al. 1995.

Wintergreen – Leaves have been chewed to increase respiratory capacity by Native Americans when running long distances and performing difficult labor. Settlers in early America had their children chew the leaves for several weeks each spring to prevent tooth decay. Wintergreen was used as a substitute for Black Tea during the Revolutionary Way.

Peppermint – Reputed to part of the “Marseilles Vinegar” or “Four Thieves Vinegar” used by grave-robbing bandits to protect themselves during the 15th century plague. A highly regarded digestive stimulant. Jean Valnet, MD, used peppermint to treat liver and respiratory diseases.

Eucalyptus Radiata – For centuries Australian Aborigines used the disinfecting leaves to cover wounds. Shown by laboratory tests to be a powerful antimicrobial agent, eucalyptol is an ingredient in many antiseptic mouth rinses. It is often used for the respiratory system. Eucalyptus trees have been planted throughout parts of North Africa to successfully block the spread of malaria. According to Jean Valnet, MD, a solution of 2 percent eucalyptus oil sprayed on the skin will kill 70 percent of ambient staph bacteria.Eucalyptus Radiata

ABOUT

Raven is a unique blend of Ravintsara and four other bright, refreshing essential oils: Peppermint, Eucalyptus Radiata, Lemon, and Wintergreen. Ravintsara is found within the leaves and wood of the camphor tree, a large evergreen tree native to regions in southern China and Japan, as well as Taiwan, Korea, and Vietnam. Ravintsara’s slightly woodsy aroma pairs perfectly with other essential oils in the mint family, including Peppermint and Wintergreen. The whole experience is sweetened with a sprinkle of Lemon, creating the sensation of walking through a crisp, quiet winter forest.

EMOTIONS and OILS

Did you know our lungs store grief? We are all dealing with grief, in some form or fashion.

Additionally, we often deal with a heavy load of emotional baggage and that will get trapped in the lungs and cause us to struggle to breathe well. Aromatically… it is strengthening and energizing. Raven was created to help us express ourselves better through the release of sadness. Those who feel rejected (that is a big one today, especially for our kids and social media) and holding onto sadness and grief may find an emotional release with this oil. Apply it and meditate or have some quiet time. Raven is an oil of quiet time… once all our negative emotions are released it is easier for us to embrace joy and hope in our lives.

Just make sure to use it! The oils don’t work unless you use them.
